Four More Days




There are only four more days before the Beard Contest on Saturday. Above are some shots of Jim Bush, John Johnson, Steve Davidson, and Merle Koutz in their beards. Merle is dressed in the same suit jacket and top hat that he wore during the centennial.

Be sure to join us at 2 p.m. in the Village Park for the Beard and Dress Contests.

Beard Contest Rules & Information

Beard Contest

Coordinator: Jim Bush
Date: Saturday, August 17
Time: 2 p.m.

Men from the area are invited to participate in a beard-growing contest between January 19 and August 17. Beards will be judged according to appearance and length. Awards will be given in the following categories:

  1. Longest beard
  2. Best looking
  3. Most colorful
  4. Longest moustache
  5. The scruffiest looking beard

Registration

Anyone who wishes to join in the contest is welcome to start at any time. Only thing that you need to do is contact one of the judges and / or prove that you are cleaned shaved at the start and you will be added to list. Any question contact Jim Bush at jsbush@jsbush.com or phone 989-289-4435. Remember on the 17th of August you will be judged and anyone who does not have an unshaved face may be arrested and put in jail.

Beard Contest Schedule

Judging for the Beard Contest will take place at 2 p.m. at the Village of Shepherd park. All beard growing contestants will be invited to march in the Sesquicentennial parade at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 19. The public will be able to bid for the chance to shave off the beard of their choice during an auction scheduled to take place after the parade.
